Books of the Bible

I've observed a concerning trend in children's Bible classes: students struggle to locate specific books of the Bible, even if they can recite them orally. To address this, we've incorporated a simple game called "Let's find it in the Bible" into our lesson review time.  This activity highlights the importance of hands-on Bible interaction, especially for young readers who may be accustomed to electronic devices.  To further reinforce Bible book familiarity, we plan to implement additional activities such as:

  1. Books in Order: Students will arrange laminated cards with printed Bible book names in order, starting with easier sets and progressing to more challenging ones.

  2. Pass the Beanbag: Students pass a beanbag while naming the next book of the Bible. When the teacher calls "freeze," the student holding the beanbag must name the following three books.

  3. Bible Drills: We'll continue practicing Bible drills, allowing students to physically locate books by turning pages.  We provide classroom Bibles for students who forget to bring their own.

We would love to hear other ideas of how you instill the books of the Bible in your children's hearts!  Feel free to leave us a comment!
